Anniversary edition of the manga “Akira”

Kodansha comics, published for the first time "Akiru" back in 1982, released an anniversary set in October 2017. Inside are all 6 volumes of the manga, book "Akira Club" and a small but pleasant surprise in the form of an iconic patch.

Everything is packaged in a gorgeous box with magnetic doors. "Akira Club" There are noticeably more volumes of manga, so there is a special recess in the box, and for manga there is a tile made of thick cardboard so that everything lies neatly and beautifully inside.

Although the publication was published by the division Kodansha USA — the manga is not mirrored and is read from right to left. Each of the manga volumes has a unique soft cover, with a synopsis of the story written on the inside of each of them in different languages.

The design of the covers of the volumes themselves is simply amazing and done to an excellent level. The endpapers of the books also look stylish with color inserts from the manga itself.

The first few pages of each volume are printed in color on glossy paper.

The main part of the story will unfold in the usual black and white colors on paper like this.

I’m not an expert on paper quality, but it feels like high quality paper with a pleasant texture. Only the glossy pages cause a little excitement, but let’s chalk this up to my lack of experience in this matter. Well, one of the dust jackets, bent in the wrong places.

The main decoration of the publication, nodepositbonuscasinos.co.uk for me personally, is the book "Akira Club". Its dust jacket completely copies the hard one, but in the center there is a wonderful embossing made at 5+.

The book itself is a set of sketches by the author, illustrations, various covers with comments from the author, posters for the manga and film, photographs of various staff and small notes from the mangaka, adding a little charm.

I’m not sure that anyone in Russia would publish a publication of such excellent quality. But maybe someday 🙂

This is where the dilemma lies. Producing high quality is expensive, demand is needed. And collectors already have a similar publication, albeit in English, it seems to me.

Well, in general – yes. For the same reason, I won’t buy the anniversary edition of Blame! in Russian, because I already have all six volumes in English.

Hm. It seems you’re both right. Considering that we, in principle, do not have a particularly developed culture of buying collectibles and stuff like that… Nde. It’s all sad.

If it weren’t for the discount, I would hardly have bought this publication for the full price tag, taking into account the cost of delivery.

For example, I’m still buying the regular edition. So that it is, as they say. There are currently 5 volumes, 6 and 7 are awaiting delivery. Specialist. I’ll most likely buy the edition if it’s beautiful :3

hmm, I just already have 2 volumes out of 6 released (or however many there are) in paperback. Then all I have to do is wait.

It looks damn stylish and cool, it’s not a shame to have this on your shelf. It’s a pity that it’s only in English translation.

Yeah, well, Akira has a lot of fans. In addition, CDPR raised interest in cyberpunk, and many began to be interested in all this. So there would be demand.

It would be interesting to know how we are doing with sales of Blame!». At one time I myself began to collect a version in Russian into a collection, but so far I have not gone further than 2 volumes.

I wouldn’t mind buying a simple Akira. But here we are talking, for a moment, about the collector’s edition – with pretentious packaging, bonus materials and other goodies.

Anything can happen. Let’s wait and see :3
At a minimum, they will have a hard cover: “Unlike the Japanese and American editions, we will have books with a hard cover and super.» This is from the xl website.
